MITRE Recognized for Cybersecurity Excellence

The MITRE Corporation has been named a 2013 CSO40 Award winner by the International Data Group's CSO Magazine. The CSO40 Awards recognize 40 organizations for security projects and initiatives that demonstrate outstanding business value and thought leadership. MITRE is among the first class of CSO40 Award honorees.
The award sponsors selected MITRE for its Making Security Measureable program, which has been instrumental in developing and promoting standards that support information assurance and cybersecurity operations, for "outstanding security projects and initiatives that have truly resulted in positive long-lasting outcomes."
MITRE Named to Glassdoor.com’s 50 Best Places to Work List

Glassdoor.com has named The MITRE Corporation one of the 50 Best Places to Work for 2013, earning MITRE an Employees' Choice Award. Glassdoor.com selected the 50 Best Places to Work based on nearly 500,000 employee reviews posted on its website during the past year. This is MITRE's fifth consecutive year on the career and workplace site's list of the top U.S. companies.
The Boston Globe Ranks MITRE Number 6 Top Place to Work

The Boston Globe has named The MITRE Corporation to its Top Places to Work list for 2012. MITRE was ranked number 6 out of 25 in the category of largest companies, those with 1,000 or more employees. This is the organization's fourth year on the list of the Commonwealth's best workplaces.
MITRE Takes Home Silver "Health at Work" Award

CHICAGO, Ill., August 20, 2012—ComPsych® Corporation, the world's largest provider of employee assistance programs (EAP), has announced The MITRE Corporation as a Silver winner of its Health at Work Award. Now in its eighth year, the award honors organizations that promote employee health and wellness. Recipients were selected based on the comprehensiveness of their wellness program, promotion, delivery, participation rates, and results. ComPsych cited MITRE's Embrace Your Health (EYH) initiative, which features monthly health education and EAP seminars, a health services clinic onsite at two locations, fitness centers at the main campuses, and ergonomic evaluations.
"We're honored to receive this recognition," said Susan Skelly, Health and Wellness program manager at MITRE. "It's gratifying to know that our work to bring programs and resources to our employees is helping them to achieve their health and fitness goals." Skelly added that 25% to 30% of employees have participated in EYH programs since the company launched the initiative more than 10 years ago. This is MITRE's second Health at Work award; the company was also recognized in 2008.

Alliance for Workplace Excellence Announces Annual Award Winners

The Alliance for Workplace Excellence (AWE) announced May 7 that MITRE has received its 2012 Seal of Approval as an Excellent Workplace and as a Health & Wellness Trailblazer. Both awards highlight businesses that promote professional fulfillment and personal wellness at work, at home, and in the community. AWE, a nonprofit organization founded by Montgomery County, Md., and Discovery Communications, Inc., has recognized the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area's best places to work for the past 13 years. This year's winning companies represent more than one million employees from organizations of all sizes and in all sectors—private, public and non-profit. Award applicants are assessed by an independent panel of professionals in business, industrial and organizational psychology, and human resources. This is the 10th year in a row that MITRE has received the Workplace Excellence Award and the 7th year it has received the Health & Wellness Trailblazer Award. Seventy-three businesses from Washington, Maryland, and Virginia will be honored at AWE's luncheon on June 11 at the Bethesda North Marriott and Conference Center.
Joel Jacobs Named CIO of the Year for Innovative Leadership

The Boston Business Journal and its sister publication Mass High Tech have named MITRE Vice President and Chief Information Officer Joel Jacobs as a 2012 CIO of the Year. The award sponsors selected Jacobs for exemplifying "how innovation in the use of information technology and in IT strategy can bring success to your organization, whether in driving profits or providing improved service to customers, end users or the public." As CIO, Jacobs leads MITRE's Center for Information and Technology and oversees four key areas for the corporation—IT, enterprise architecture planning, knowledge management, and corporate communications and public affairs. In addition to Jacobs, other winners include individuals from Boston Technologies, EMC Corporation, and Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company.
MITRE CEO Alfred Grasso Named to Federal 100 List

The MITRE Corporation's President and CEO Alfred Grasso has been named to Federal Computer Week's Federal 100 list for 2012. The magazine's annual list recognizes government and industry leaders who play pivotal roles in the federal government IT community.
