Awards and Recognition 2000 McLean, MA, December 5, 2000 The MITRE Corporation, a national technology resource for the government, received a Leadership Award from the non-profit Potomac Forum for showing that open source software can provide substantial advantages over commercial software, particularly when reliability and long-term support are key requirements. The award was recently presented jointly to MITRE and the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the first Federal Linux Users Group conference at Crystal City, Va. NAV CANADA's "Award of Excellence" Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, November 16, 2000 The MITRE Corporation's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD), was recognized by NAV CANADA for its "outstanding support to our operations and our Air Traffic Management System." The award went to Anand Mundra, Frank Willingham, Frank Petroski, Art Smith Vilas Nene, and Dan Kirk. Northern Virginia Family Service's Special Achievement Award McLean, VA, November 16, 2000 The not-for-profit MITRE Corporation today received the Northern Virginia Family Service's Special Achievement Award for demonstrating leadership in creating a family-friendly workplace for its employees. Former WJLA news host Paul Berry made the award presentation at the annual CARE (Companies as Responsive Employers) Awards breakfast this morning. "Healthy Workplace" Award from the Massachusetts Psychological Association Bedford, MA, November 3, 2000 The Massachusetts Psychological Association (MPA) today awarded its Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award to The MITRE Corporation in Bedford, MA, for creating a superior work environment for employees.
