Awards and Recognition 2007 MITRE's Agam Sinha Honored by the Air Traffic Control Association McLean, Virginia, December 19, 2007 Mr. Agam Sinha, Ph.D., senior vice president and general manager of MITRE's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD), has received the Air Traffic Control Association's (ATCA) 2007 Chairman's Citation of Merit Award. ATCA is a non-profit, non-government, professional organization dedicated to progress in the science of air traffic control and the preservation of a safe flight environment. The Chairman's Citation is presented annually to those who have added to the quality, safety and efficiency of air traffic control. MITRE Named a "Great Place to Work" by Washingtonian Magazine McLean, Virginia, November 29, 2007 The MITRE Corporation has been named a "Great Place to Work" by Washingtonian magazine, an award-winning monthly magazine serving the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region. MITRE was chosen for this biennial list from more than 225 area companies, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. The company also made the list in 2005. The "Great Places to Work" survey rates companies on a variety of measures, including pay and benefits, flexibility, and professional development opportunities. MITRE Engineer Honored as a Heroine in Technology McLean, Virginia, November 27, 2007 Ms. Dorothea (Dolly) Greenwood, MITRE's director of Army Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, has received the Heroine in Technology Award from Women in Technology (WIT). WIT is a not-for-profit organization that offers women in the technology field a range of professional development and networking opportunities and also recognizes women as role models. The organization's annual event, which raises funds for the March of Dimes, honors women in the technology field who use their experience, knowledge, and skills to benefit the community. MITRE is a sponsor of WIT. MITRE Engineers Recognized as Technology Leaders by the National Women of Color McLean, Virginia, November 6, 2007 Two MITRE systems engineers have been named 2007 category winners by the National Women of Color Technology Awards Conference for their technical accomplishments and leadership abilities. A third was nominated for her outstanding work achievements. Sandra Aguirre won in the Special Recognition category, and Levonia Moore was named a Technology Rising Star. Both women work in MITRE's Department of Defense federally funded research and development center (FFRDC). Amy Pierce was nominated in the Professional Achievement category. She works for the FFRDC sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service. MITRE Recognized for Exemplary Employee Health Care by Boston Business Journal Bedford, Massachusetts, October 24, 2007 The Boston Business Journal has named The MITRE Corporation a "Champion in Health Care" for providing high-quality wellness programs for its more than 1,900 employees in Bedford. MITRE's Dr. Lisa Costa Receives AFCEA Intelligence Community Award McLean, Virginia, July 12, 2007 Dr. Lisa Costa, a division chief scientist at MITRE's Tampa, Fla., site, has received the 2007 Award for Meritorious Service to the Intelligence Community from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International. MITRE's Danny DeMarinis Receives AFCEA Leadership Award McLean, Virginia, July 12, 2007 Mr. Danny DeMarinis, Director of Multinational and Strategic Initiatives and Aberdeen Site Leader for the Army Programs Directorate at The MITRE Corporation, has received the 2007 Leadership Award from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) International. MITRE Engineer Receives Best Paper Award at DySPAN Conference McLean, Virginia, June 21, 2007 MITRE Principal Communications Engineer Dr. John Stine received the Best Paper Award at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers' (IEEE) DySPAN 2007 conference held in Dublin, Ireland, April 17-20. DySPAN is a global symposium on dynamic spectrum access networking. MITRE Named to the "Best Places to Work in IT" List Bedford, Massachusetts, June 18, 2007 International Data Group's Computerworld has named The MITRE Corporation to its "Best Places to Work in IT" list for the third year in a row, ranking MITRE fifth on the list of 100 companies. In addition, MITRE ranked third on Computerworld's list of the 10 Best Places for Training. Selection is based on a comprehensive survey of each organization's benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention, as well as feedback from employees. MITRE Engineer Honored at Network Centric Warfare Awards McLean, Virginia, May 1, 2007 The MITRE Corporation is pleased to announce that its work on the Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance Information Service (ISRIS) received first place in the "Outstanding Achievement from the Defense Industry" category at the 2007 Network Centric Warfare (NCW) Awards. MITRE Part of Team Honored with AIAA Best Paper Award McLean, Virginia, January 19, 2007 A team of researchers from The MITRE Corp., NASA Ames Research Center, the Federal Aviation Administration, and MIT Lincoln Laboratory were awarded "Air Transportation Systems and Operations Best Paper" at the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Technology, Integration, and Operations Conference in Wichita, Kansas, on September 26. The authors received a certificate of merit recognizing technical and scientific excellence.
