Mr. Victor A. DeMarines Board Member Since 1995
Mr. DeMarines worked in the command and control field in various capacities with increasing responsibility throughout his MITRE career. His technical activities in the data processing field focused on network and distributed computing. He has authored many technical articles, spoken at numerous technical conferences, and holds patents on local area network techniques. He was promoted to president and CEO in January 1996. From 1994 to 1996, he was executive vice president. From 1990 to 1994, he served as senior vice president and general manager of MITRE's Center for Integrated Intelligence Systems. He also managed MITRE's Bangkok, Thailand, site, where he helped coordinate MITRE's support for Air Force systems installed in Thailand and Vietnam. Mr. DeMarines participated in a one-year (1972 to 1973) President's Executive Interchange program, during which he was assigned the position of staff analyst in the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Office of Research and Development Policy. In this role, he dealt with modernizing the national air traffic control system and formulated a concept for transcontinental air transport. He was awarded the Secretary of Transportation's Meritorious Service Award for his efforts to coordinate research and development activity among the DOT's various components. Mr. DeMarines serves on the board of directors of NetScout Systems, Inc., a provider of network monitoring equipment, and Verint Systems Inc., a firm serving the broad interests of security and workforce optimization. He has also been a member of the STRATCOM Strategic Advisory Group since 2003. Before joining MITRE, Mr. DeMarines was a lieutenant in the Air Force and served at the Lincoln Project Office at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass. Prior to that, he worked as a design engineer with G. L. Martin Company. He received a master's degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1962 and a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 1958.
