Mr. Sol Glasner Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary
Mr. Sol Glasner is vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of The MITRE Corporation. He oversees a varied in-house practice emphasizing government procurement, intellectual property, technology commercialization, real estate, and employment law. He also serves as MITRE's chief ethics and compliance officer. As corporate secretary, Mr. Glasner provides guidance on board governance matters, coordinates trustee meetings, and maintains official corporate records. Mr. Glasner was appointed corporate secretary in April 1996. In October 1994, he became vice president and general counsel. He joined MITRE as general counsel in September 1992. Prior to joining MITRE, Mr. Glasner served as house counsel to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). In his last position there, Mr. Glasner was responsible for the legal affairs of CSC's Consulting Group, headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mr. Glasner has been active in industry and professional groups for many years. He served on the board and as treasurer of the Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA), the largest regional bar association for in-house counsel. He also served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Virginia Bar Corporate Counsel Section. In 2008, WMACCA presented Mr. Glasner with a Corporate Counsel Career Achievement Award, in recognition of the role he played in MITRE's development. He has written and lectured on export control and technology law issues. Mr. Glasner helped develop a public/private partnership model for the Partnership for Public Warning, a national post-9/11 disaster alert strategy and advocacy group. More recently, he was instrumental in forming, and now chairs, the Tysons Partnership, a coalition of area stakeholders committed to the redevelopment of Tysons Corner, Virginia into a dynamic urban community. Mr. Glasner is active in the larger community. He serves as a volunteer mediator in the District of Columbia courts and was a board member and president of New Hope Housing, Northern Virginia's largest provider of homeless shelters and services. Mr. Glasner serves on the executive committee of the American Technion Society, Washington, D.C. chapter, which provides strategic direction in support of the Technion, Israel's leading scientific and technical research institution. Mr. Glasner earned a law degree in 1981 from Georgetown University Law Center and a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University in 1976. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and Communications from Queens College/CUNY (1974). He is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia and Virginia.
