Cognitive Tools and Data Management

Capabilities

  • Data Management - Expertise in all varieties of database systems, as well as data modeling and ontologies. We work with the major database products, and have contacts with some of the key vendors. We have published research in query processing, database security, and other related topics, and have contacts with several researchers in the area.
  • - POC Dr. Arnon Rosenthal

  • Cognition and Decision Support - Includes structured argumentation and applying user models to improve team decision making.
  • - POC Dr. Brant Chiekes

  • Large Information Systems - Experience in data warehouse systems, metadata approaches, and design of complex information systems. We support major customer programs that focus on information management and exploitation. We have published research in migration of legacy systems, distributed object management, and related topics.
  • - Mr. Joe Wood

  • Geospatial Information - Applied uses of geospatial information.
  • - Dr. Abigail Gertner

  • Human-Computer Interaction - Includes all aspects of user interface development and application that facilitate the communication of information between users and machines.
  • - Ms. Laura Kurland

  • Learning Environments - Using computers to aid the training of humans in selected skills or disciplines in an intelligent, collaboration, imbedded fashion, including having the computer perform the role of facilitator, advisor, or instructor.
  • - Dr. Brad Goodman

  • Human Language Technology - Understanding, generating, and translating human languages, including speech and language processing, information extraction, and Q&A.


  • Bio-Surveillance - high precision methods for identifying outbreaks of infectious desease from noisy, seasonally-varying data while respecting privacy and rights of individuals - Dr. Jim Dunyak

  • Information Security - Ensuring that network operations are not disrupted by malicious or unintended circumstances and deployment of appropriate security mechanisms to include behavior tracking, authentication, accreditation, response measures, and audit.

  • Knowledge Discovery from Text and Data - Algorithms for deriving or inferring useful information for large complex data sets.
