Design and develop artificial intelligence systems' specifications, prototyping, modeling and simulation. Business Analysis & Administration

Manage and/or support financial, contract, accounting, treasury, internal audit, budgeting, information systems and other business resources at the division, center or FFRDC level. Support contract formation. Manage and/or support contract administration (including reporting) activities including ceiling management. Manage and/or support cost and pricing proposal activities to meet submission deadlines to existing and potential customers. Schedule, prepare and coordinate program and business reviews and status reports for assigned contract areas, including the preparation of detailed, complex statistical, financial and descriptive reports about MTS delivery, under- and over-spending on projects, overhead, program funding, staffing levels. Estimate at completion, etc. Oversee or perform procurement support and/or property management, capital purchases, maintenance of capital equipment, space allocations and facilities planning activities.

Plan, develop and coordinate internal and external communications programs using print, electronic media and face-to-face communications to increase understanding of the company's strategies and goals among MITRE community and external audiences. Working with corporate and business unit leaders, develop communications to help increase awareness of and understanding of programs and initiatives.

Produce a variety of communication products—from newsletters, brochures, and high-visibility pieces such as the annual report to multi-prong communication campaigns.

Computer Operations

Ensure operational integrity of all corporate servers and networks. Monitor computer business applications; perform status and integrity checks. May be responsible for computer accounts, printers and SecureID administration. Considered first line of support for infrastructure status related to business applications and operational issues.

Contracts/Subcontracts

Participate in and/or conducts proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer contact activities that provide for proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. Prepare bids; process specifications, progress, and other reports; advise management of contractual rights and obligations; compile and analyze data; maintain historical information.

Develop subcontract specifications, work statements, and terms and conditions for the procurement of specialized materials, equipment, and services. Prepare bid packages, conduct bidders' conferences, analyze and evaluate proposals, negotiate subcontract provision, select or recommend subcontractors, write awards, and administer resulting subcontracts. Database Technology Software

Design and develop database management systems. Provide expertise and recommendations in database architecture and security, object-oriented databases, spatial databases, active databases, multi-media databases, data modeling, and data administration.

Research defense systems and foreign technology. Develop satellite and space-based sensor or communications systems. Perform space mission analyses and planning.

Desktop Support

Provide total desktop and Help Desk support to end users; work with end users providing guidance, consultations and resolution of desktop and Help Desk problems. Research, analyze, and evaluate desktop computer systems, and issues related to networking and connectivity, server access, and system installation. Provide systems configuration engineering and/or systems design engineering for software application and desktop computer systems.

Design and develop digital systems, digital circuits, digital signal processing systems, and software applications. Conduct trade studies in digital and microprocessor electronics.

Economics/Business

Provide analyses in investment, cost, technical performance, acquisition planning, budgeting, and market and technology forecasting. Requires a broad understanding of company mission, economics, technology, industry, and domain knowledge needs of Government sponsors.

Electromagnetic & Nuclear Effects

Perform research and provide recommendations in electromagnetic and nuclear effects, including electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), electromagnetic interference (EMI), frequency, TEMPEST, lightning, electromagnetic pulse (EMP), grounding and bonding, radiation, shielding and filtering, nuclear-disturbed propagation, and ground shock.

Facilities Engineering

Oversee the planning, design, reconfiguration, maintenance and alteration of the equipment, buildings and other facilities. Coordinate and approve space layout changes and allocations to ensure adherence to company space standards. Review and validate estimates for non-scheduled work requests. Accountable for budget control.

Financial Analysis

Perform analysis such as rates of return, depreciation, working capital, investments, workflow, and financial and expense comparisons. Forecast program and contract performance, resource distribution and utilization. Develop, maintain, and establish operational specifications for financial information systems, considering such things as information flow, training modules, volume, and documentation for data processing. Provide analysis of business prospects and measures business performance and trends by project, contract, unit, division, or consolidated corporate. Perform multi-year financial planning, including pro forms balance sheet, profit and loss, cash flow, and forecasting and control.

General Accounting

Maintain or oversee the maintenance of accounts and records in such areas as disbursement, expenses, assets, liabilities, tax payments, payroll and revenue. Process transaction data for incurred cost, fixed assets, payroll, and general ledger posting. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare reports, make general ledger entries, and review and verify accuracy. May design, modify, install, and/or maintain ERP systems to provide efficient processing of transactions. Responsible for revenue recognition, invoice preparation, and expense report audit for compliance with federal regulations, corporate policies, and MITRE-negotiated contractual agreements. Conduct audits to enforce control and compliance. General Accounting includes functions of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Project Accounting, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Billing/Accounts Receivable, Tax Compliance, and Employee Reimbursements.

General Systems Engineer

Research and develop system specifications, design alternatives, interface definition and control, technology insertion and transfer, and project management tools. Synthesize technology solutions and domain-specific knowledge across several technical disciplines.

Function as information designer, project coordinator and graphic communications developer or resource. Plan, develop and execute visual communication products for print, Web and multimedia projects. Integrate text, graphics, and other visual elements into effective communication products.

Human Resources Generalist

Provide wide range of Human Resources (HR) support to meet objectives of assigned business unit(s). Serve as focal point and liaison with corporate HR functions to ensure center's needs are met, and that the center's own HR initiatives receive collaborative support and are consistent with corporate policy.

Conduct technical research and trade studies in human-system interface and operational usability. Industrial Security

Develop, implement, and administer security processes for the protection of classified, proprietary, and sensitive information and material. Prepare written guidance outlining regulations, and establish procedures for handling, storing, record keeping, information processing, and for granting personnel and visitors access to restricted information and materials. Information Security

Design and develop secure operating systems, secure workstations, secure data management, secure networks, secure Web technology, firewalls, and distributed authentication. Perform COTS integration. Assess risk and vulnerability.

Physical Security responsibilities encompass general plant protection, guard force management, disaster recovery/business continuity. Other responsibilities include the design, customization, and maintenance of access control systems, communication systems, and fire/intrusion alarm systems. Physical Security supports collocated tenants, contractors, and off-site locations as required.

Procurement

Process highly specialized expertise in the field of Purchasing to determine factors that affect pricing and determine lowest cost consistent with quality and delivery requirements. Prepare RFPs and review proposals, negotiate prices, select or recommend suppliers, analyze trends, approve purchase orders, expedite and verify delivery. Purchase equipment, materials, supplies and services. Compile and analyze statistical data, and prepare cost and price analysis, to determine feasibility of buying products and to establish price objectives. Compile information from periodicals, catalogs, and other sources to keep informed of state-of-the-art developments and market trends, price fluctuations and supply chain processes.

Design and develop radar, electronic-optical, laser, and acoustic sensor systems.

Conduct technical research in speech processing, neural networks, electromagnetic and acoustic propagation effects on signals, adaptive filtering, sensor data fusion, VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration), and applied mathematics.

Software Applications Development & Software Systems

Design, develop, and integrate a wide spectrum of software systems and applications, including operating systems, databases, compilers, networks, advanced user interfaces, financial management tools, and COTS applications.

Special Security

The Special Security organization develops, implements, and administers a corporate-wide security system for Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI), Special Access Programs (SAP), and U.S. Government Classified (USGC) activities. Integrate government contractual and regulatory requirements with corporate policies and procedures to establish a secure operational environment. Establish and maintain unique workspaces, administrative processing systems, special access management and information security systems. Develop, implement, and maintain Operational Security (OPSEC) capabilities.

System Administration

Manage computer assets. Develop tools to automate tasks. Plan and implement hardware and software upgrades. Recommend hardware and software purchases. Recommend hardware and software configurations. Track system performance. Troubleshoot problems with hardware and software. Provide end-user support. Manage user accounts. For those positions involving laboratory management and operations, may also include development and management of integrated computing, networking, security, and presentation capabilities.

Technical Project Support

Provide technical assistance to more senior staff on scientific, engineering, or information systems projects that include literature research, laboratory research, computational research, and technical writing. Perform complex laboratory or shop work including prototyping, assembling, installing, troubleshooting, adjusting, repairing, and testing equipment. Set up, conduct and document performance and evaluation tests or experiments. Extract engineering data from various sources, process data following well-defined methods, use standard engineering formulae, plot data, and draw curves and graphs. Compile and maintain a technical library including manuals, technical reports, or plans. Develop, modify, maintain, document, or apply software including databases, spreadsheets, information systems, or models and simulations. Program or modify computer language code.

Telecommunications Specialist

Responsible for design, analysis, procurement, installation, operation and maintenance of local and remote voice/data/video network architectures and interfaces.

Treasury and Risk Management

Monitor and control various cash flows and procedures, including domestic and international banking accounts, interest expense, and long- and short-term debt and investment management. Forecast, analyze, and report on investment yields, cash position, source and use of funds, and economic trends.

Determine cash requirements and plan and prepare short-term investments and loans. Recommend and select favorable debt and investment forms. Assume responsibility for accounts receivable deposits and disbursements. Responsible for risk management for foreign exchange and interest rate exposures. Act as a strategic partner to financial area "customers", in securing leading edge products and services required for business services and long-term objectives, e.g., e-commerce initiatives. Administer the corporate risk management process to preserve the corporation's assets (physical, financial, and human resources) against loss of various kinds.
