Co-ops at MITRE are involved in a broad range of projects that offer valuable real-world experience.
You work closely with senior staff on programs we are performing for our sponsors and have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and make direct contributions. And co-op assignments can lead to full-time positions following graduation.
Some examples of recent co-op projects include:
Visualization of Complex Data
Students created visualizations of both two- and three-dimensional data from models, simulations, and sensors for customers.
Control Panels (Dashboards)
Students integrated web pages combining key management indicators and controls into a single view.
Mission Planning
Students interfaced mission planning capabilities to other systems.
Data Quality
Students assisted in defining data quality metrics and measuring them against customer data.
Acquisition
Students developed prototypes of acquisition systems to transition over to contractors.
Data Conversions
Students converted data streams into new formats, data types, and protocols.
Software Conversions
Students experimented with running existing software on new hardware, in new environments, and as part of new infrastructures.
Security
Students assisted in developing and testing new security theories, protocols, and techniques.
Semantic Net
Students contributed software that will eventually lead to a fully operational semantic network.
Enterprise Service Buses
Students prototyped Service-Oriented Architecture that can be used for governance, service acquisition, development, and maintenance.
Testbeds
Students developed extensive test beds for networked applications and internetworking.
Robotic Vision
Students adapted robotic vision equations and methodologies to new types of robots and satellites.
MSIM Simulator
Students implemented a colored-Petri Net sequencer that can emulate a network or other complex systems.
Investigation of New Techniques
Students measured claims of new systems, languages, tools, styles, infrastructures, processes, and techniques.
FPGA Timing
Students timed software, firmware, and hardware processes, assisting customers in selecting technologies to inject into projects.
Airborne Network
Students created a Tactical Edge networking interface capable of sending both IPv4 and IPv6 packets across various computers, networks, protocols, radios, and antennas.
