MITRE Roundtable
Is a COTS Solution Right for Me?
A group of MITRE staff, with a vast amount of experience in COTS acquisition
and use, recently met to discuss the myriad of issues surrounding the
use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software and hardware. Their experiences
with COTS products and services illustrate that the answer to the question,
“Is a COTS solution right for me?” often results in the answer
“It depends.” The dialog was moderated by the Information Technology
Division’s Executive Director Mark Maybury.
