MITRE Announces Promotion of Mike Blom to Vice President FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher McLean, Virginia, February 21, 2003 — The MITRE Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer Martin Faga recently announced the promotion of Jacob "Mike" Blom to vice president. The promotion was approved at a meeting of MITRE's Board of Trustees earlier this month. Blom joined MITRE in 1995, with over 25 years of leadership experience at other technical organizations and in the intelligence community. Said Faga, "I believe that CEM and MITRE as a whole will benefit from Mike's strategic and people leadership skills, his systems engineering insight, and his dedication." Blom will continue to serve in the role of deputy director of MITRE's Center for Enterprise Modernization (CEM), the company's federally funded research and development center sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service. As vice president, Blom will concentrate on enhancing CEM's public service mission, focusing on the successful modernization of our nation's tax administration system as well as the modernization and enterprise architecture efforts of other key government agencies (including the U.S. Customs Service and other emerging Homeland Security stakeholders). MITRE (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit national resource that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government. It operates federally funded research and development centers sponsored by the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, with principal locations in Bedford, Mass., and Northern Virginia.
