General Meigs Appointed to MITRE Corporation Board of Trustees FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher Bedford, Massachusetts, September 30, 2003 — MITRE Chairman of the Board James Schlesinger and President and CEO Marty Faga are pleased to announce the recent appointment of General Montgomery C. Meigs (USA, Ret.) to the MITRE Board of Trustees. General Meigs is the Distinguished Visiting Tom Slick Professor of World Peace at the LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas at Austin. He left active duty on January 1, 2003, after more than 35 years in uniform. From October 1998 to December 2002, General Meigs commanded all Army forces in the 91-country area of responsibility of the U.S. European Command, and originated programs to build new military relationships in NATO, Eastern Europe, and Russia. From October 1998 to October 1999 he also led the 39-nation Stabilization Force in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and fostered new governmental institutions in Bosnia. General Meigs has a B.S. degree from the U.S. Military Academy, and an M.A. and Ph.D. degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has published a variety of articles in professional journals, and has lectured at a number of academic institutions, including the Royal Uniformed Services Institute, the Russian Army’s Combined Arms Academy, and the Belfer Center at Harvard University's Kennedy School. and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation
