Bedford, Massachusetts, September 23, 2003 — Today, The MITRE Corporation was recognized as one of the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" by Working Mother magazine. The corporation was lauded for its policies on work life benefits such as flextime, employee assistance programs, and women's advancement.

The MITRE Corporation's Director of Quality of Work Life & Benefits Bill Albright commented on the accolade. He said, "We are extremely pleased to be recognized for our work life and benefits program that helps us attract very talented employees from this important demographic group. Working mothers at MITRE enjoy a workplace that recognizes the importance of flexibility in raising families. At MITRE, we need creative ideas, outstanding performance, and high productivity from our staff, and have found that working mothers are great contributors in satisfying these needs."

Carol Evans, CEO of Working Mother Media, said, "Workplace cultures at the best places to work have changed and now reflect the permanent presence of working mothers. And companies are responding to pressure from both men and women who demand a balanced life. Work/life benefits are here to stay."

To be named to the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" list, firms complete a comprehensive application, including questions about a company's culture, employee population, and policies on work/life and women's advancement. This year, Working Mother gave particular weight to three issues: flexible scheduling, advancement of women, and child-care options.

The complete "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" list appears in the October issue of Working Mother (on newsstands and at www.workingmother.com).
