MITRE Announces Promotion of Steve Huffman to Vice President FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher McLean, Virginia, February 18, 2005 — The MITRE Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer Martin C. Faga recently announced the promotion of Stephen D. Huffman to vice president. He was elected an officer of the Corporation at a recent meeting of the Board of Trustees. Huffman will serve as vice president in the Washington Command, Control and Communications Center. WC3 is one of the three operating centers that comprise the Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence (C3I) Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) that is operated by MITRE for the Department of Defense (DOD). Huffman takes over the position from Raymond Haller, who recently was promoted to senior vice president and general manager of WC3. Said Faga, "Steve will be responsible for MITRE's work for selected senior customers focused on DOD transformation. He will also continue to serve as chief engineer of MITRE's Enterprise Systems Engineering Office, which is focused on ensuring integration across the FFRDC's three operating centers and solving the complex technical and operational challenges facing achievement of the DOD Net-Centric Operations vision." Huffman came to MITRE in 1988 and has held a variety of positions in support of MITRE's work for the DOD. Most recently, he served as Chief Engineer of WC3, where he was responsible for oversight of technical activities within the Center, and as the acting technical director of MITRE's Center for Innovative Computing and Informatics. Huffman holds bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from Duke University. MITRE (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit company that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government. It operates federally funded research and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, with principal locations in Bedford, Massachusetts, and McLean, Virginia.
