MITRE Announces Promotion of Diane Schulte to Vice President FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher McLean, Virginia, February 17, 2005 — The MITRE Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer Martin C. Faga recently announced the promotion of Diane Schulte to vice president. Schulte was elected as an officer of the corporation at a recent meeting of MITRE's Board of Trustees. Schulte will serve as vice president in the Center for Enterprise Modernization (CEM), the unit of MITRE that operates the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) federally funded research and development center (FFRDC). She takes over the position from J. Michel Blom, who recently was promoted to senior vice president and general manager of the Center. As vice president, Schulte will concentrate on enhancing CEM's public service mission, focusing on the successful modernization of our nation's tax administration system as well as the modernization and enterprise architecture efforts of other key government agencies served by the Center. Said Faga, "Diane was a principal member of the team that established the IRS FFRDC at MITRE. Over the years, she has continued to provide high-quality services to CEM's customers while at the same time focusing on staff development and the advancement of CEM's capabilities to meet future challenges." Schulte came to MITRE in 1983 and has held a variety of positions in support of MITRE's work for the IRS. Most recently, she served as deputy director of CEM, where she had responsibility for daily operations of the Center. She holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Dayton and a master's degree in mathematical statistics from The American University. She recently completed the Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program. It operates federally funded research and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, with principal locations in Bedford, Massachusetts, and McLean, Virginia.
