MITRE Executive Director Eric Skoog Receives Exceptional Performance Award FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher Bedford, Massachusetts, May 24, 2005 — Eric N. Skoog, an executive director in the Center for the Air Force Command and Control Systems (CAFC2S) at MITRE, recently received an Exceptional Performance Award for his outstanding accomplishments during his tenure as AF Chief Architect, Office of the Air Force Chief Information Officer (AF CIO). John M. Gilligan, AF CIO, presented the award to Skoog at Hanscom Air Force Base. The award citation reads in part, "An acknowledged world-class enterprise architect and inspirational leader, Mr. Skoog has been pivotal in institutionalizing architecture as a decision enabler, producing more effective and efficient support to the Air Force warfighter." Skoog was the first Air Force Chief Architect, serving from 2000-2004. During that time, he created the AF Chief Architect's Office, developed and administered policy and guidance, developed the first Air Force Enterprise Architecture, and led the creation of the Air Force Standards Council. "Eric's work as the Air Force Chief Architect demonstrates MITRE's commitment to our sponsors and to ensuring the success of their missions," said Dr. Raymond A. Shulstad, senior vice president and general manager of the CAFC2S. MITRE (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit company that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government. It operates federally funded research and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, with principal locations in Bedford, Massachusetts, and McLean, Virginia.
