For the Second Year in a Row, MITRE Receives 2004 Maryland "Workplace Excellence" Seal of Approval FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher McLean, Virginia, April 8, 2005 — For the second year in a row, The MITRE Corporation has been presented with the Maryland Work-Life Alliance's "Workplace Excellence" Seal of Approval. The Maryland Work-Life Alliance, recognizes companies paving the way to a workplace where employees are able to experience fulfillment and success not only in the workplace, but also at home and within the community. MITRE was one of 52 Maryland employers to be recognized. According to Evelyne Steward, founder of the Maryland Work-Life Alliance, "These corporations are excellent models that demonstrate the benefits of positive workplace environments that build professional and personal successes." "We're proud to receive this honor that recognizes our work-life environment at MITRE," notes Bill Albright, director of Quality of Work Life and Benefits. "We've tried to achieve more than just programs. We've facilitated a culture where the programs are used. It affirms our efforts to continue to maintain our excellent work environment." The Maryland Work-Life Alliance's "Workplace Excellence" Seal of Approval is one of several "best company" honors MITRE has won recently. In February, MITRE was named for the fourth year in a row to Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For." MITRE (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit company that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government. It operates federally funded research and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, with principal locations in Bedford, Massachusetts, and McLean, Virginia.
