Robert Behler Joins MITRE as Senior Vice President in Command and Control Center FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher Bedford, Massachusetts, June 9, 2006 — The MITRE Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer Martin C. Faga is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Behler to the position of senior vice president in the Command and Control Center. This newly formed center combines MITRE's former command and control centers in Bedford, Mass., and McLean, Va., into a single, integrated unit. Behler will lead the center's work for MITRE's Air Force sponsors. "With a distinguished 31-year Air Force career and extensive experience leading efforts to integrate multi-disciplined advanced information technology into operational command and control systems, Bob brings the right mix of skills to help MITRE serve our Air Force customers," said Faga. "We look forward with great enthusiasm to having Bob join our team." Behler comes to MITRE from Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory, where he was general manager of Precision Engagement. In this position he supervised over 250 scientists and engineers working on critical command, control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance challenges for the Department of Defense. Behler retired as a major general from the Air Force in 2003 after 31 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was commander of the Air Force Command, Control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Center at Langley Air Force Base. During his Air Force career, Behler also served as deputy commander of NATO's Joint Headquarters North and commanded the 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron, the 9th Operations Group, and the 9th Reconnaissance Wing. He is a command pilot with more than 5,000 flying hours in 65 types of aircraft, including the SR-71 and U-2. Behler is an associate fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Oklahoma and his master's degree in business administration from Marymount University.
