MITRE Receives Plaque of Appreciation from Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of Bedford FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher Bedford, Massachusetts, February 3, 2006 — Recently, the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation (CSF) of Bedford, Mass., presented a plaque to Marty Faga, President and CEO of The MITRE Corporation in recognition of MITRE's 10 years of support to the annual "Dollars for Scholars" Phone-a-Thon. The CSF raises scholarship money that any graduating senior from Bedford High School, or any resident of Bedford or Hanscom AFB who is graduating from another secondary school, is eligible to apply for. The plaque of appreciation was presented by Jean Amato, past president of the CSF of Bedford, Sal Pomponi, Phone-a-thon Chairman of the CSF of Bedford and MITRE employee, and Ronald Stewart, President of the CSF. Following the guidelines of the Citizens' Scholarship Foundation of America (CSFA), CSF of Bedford awards scholarships on the basis of merit with the amount determined by need. Applicants must be planning to attend a four-year college, a two-year college, or a school for specialized vocational or technical training. The Bedford chapter has been in operation since 1965. MITRE (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit company that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government. It operates federally funded research and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service, with principal locations in Bedford, Mass., and McLean, Va.
