Alfred Grasso Appointed MITRE President and CEO

McLean, Virginia, July 1, 2006 — Mr. Alfred Grasso has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of The MITRE Corporation, following the retirement of Mr. Martin C. Faga. The appointment was approved last September at a meeting of MITRE's Board of Trustees. Mr. Grasso also will continue to serve as Director of the Department of Defense's Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence Federally Funded Research and Development Center, a position he has held since 2004.

During his 20 years at MITRE, Mr. Grasso has served in a number of progressively responsible roles, including Technical Director at MITRE's Fort Monmouth, N.J. operation, Chief Information Officer, and Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Washington Command, Control, and Communications Center.

Before joining MITRE, he worked for ARINC Research Corporation and Westinghouse Electronic Corporation on advanced receiver technology using integrated acousto-optics as a means of signal transformation.

Mr. Grasso holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a master's degree in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and is a graduate of the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Army Science Board and the Board of Directors of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association and the Association for Enterprise Integration.
