McLean, Virginia, January 5, 2007U.S. Black Engineer and Information Technology Magazine has named The MITRE Corporation to its list of "Most Admired Companies for Minority Professionals." Selection was based on the results of a comprehensive survey of Hispanic, Native American, Asian, black, and other minority professionals working in science, engineering, and information technology.

"MITRE has a longstanding commitment to maintaining a diverse workplace where talented individuals can flourish, and being ranked among the 'Most Admired Companies for Minority Professionals' confirms that our diversity program is on the right track," said Bill Albright, MITRE's Director of Quality of Work Life and Benefits.

Rather than focusing on quantitative measures like the number of minorities hired, the survey was designed to capture how minorities feel about workplace diversity programs. U.S. Black Engineer and Information Technology Magazine received 323 responses to its online survey from minority respondents at 108 companies. Overall, the minority employees who participated in the survey gave their employers good marks on workplace diversity and fairness.
