MITRE Named a "Great Place to Work" by Washingtonian Magazine FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher McLean, Virginia, November 29, 2007 — The MITRE Corporation has been named a "Great Place to Work" by Washingtonian magazine, an award-winning monthly magazine serving the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region. MITRE was chosen for this biennial list from more than 225 area companies, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. The company also made the list in 2005. The "Great Places to Work" survey rates companies on a variety of measures, including pay and benefits, flexibility, and professional development opportunities. "Making Washingtonian's list is a testament to our continuing efforts to cultivate a world-class work environment," said Bill Albright, director, Quality of Work Life & Benefits in MITRE's Human Resources organization. In addition to being one of sixty local employers on the "Great Places" list, MITRE was recognized as one of the top six workplaces where employees "Feel at Home"—meaning people have opportunities to learn and advance, the work is interesting, turnover is low, and the culture is friendly and collegial. Specific benefits cited included paid time off for volunteering, tuition reimbursement for higher education, and a generous retirement plan. MITRE (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit company that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government. It operates federally funded research and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service, with principal locations in Bedford, Mass., and McLean, Va.
