Bedford, Massachusetts, May 31, 2007 — The MITRE Corporation has been named one of the Best Places to Work 2007 by the Boston Business Journal in the large company category. The Best Places to Work 2007 rankings will appear in the June 22 issue of the Boston Business Journal, and companies on the list will be honored at a breakfast event at the Westin Waterfront Hotel on Friday, June 22.

"MITRE constantly strives to develop and implement policies and programs that foster a positive work environment and enable our employees to achieve. We are especially honored to be part of the Boston Business Journal Best Places to Work list because inclusion is based on assessments from our employees," said Bill Albright, MITRE's Director of Quality of Work Life and Benefits.

More than 325 companies were nominated to the list—a 40 percent increase over 2006. Nominated companies were evaluated based on the results of more than 25,000 employee-engagement surveys that assessed factors including employee pride in the company, company encouragement, support and recognition of achievement, and relationships with co-workers and supervisors. The results were scored by assigning points to each question.

"The Best Places to Work are companies that invest in their employees, foster a positive work setting, and exhibit a team-oriented environment," said Boston Business Journal Publisher Michael Olivieri. "These leaders understand that employees are the foundation of the company and the engine that drives the business forward."
