McLean, Virginia, January 17, 2007 — President and Chief Executive Officer Al Grasso is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Agam Sinha to the position of senior vice president of The MITRE Corporation and general manager of the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD). He will also direct the Federal Aviation Administration's Federally Funded Research and Development Center. In this position, Dr. Sinha will lead MITRE's aviation and transportation security work program in support of the FAA, the Transportation Security Administration, and international civil aviation authorities.

"Agam brings to this role a wealth of knowledge and experience. Since joining MITRE in 1972, he has made numerous contributions to the modernization of air traffic control and management systems, both in the U.S. and around the world," said Grasso. "Agam has strong relationships both with the FAA and the broader aviation community, and we look forward with great enthusiasm to having him take the helm in CAASD."

During his more than 30 years at MITRE, Dr. Sinha has been involved in many facets of the aviation research program, serving as manager, director, and most recently as vice president. As head of the Air Traffic Management Research Department, he oversaw research projects on applications of decision-support systems in all phases of flight. As director of air transportation systems and regional director of the Americas, he led CAASD's projects within Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.

Dr. Sinha earned a doctorate in operations research and a master's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Minnesota, a master's degree in technology management from American University, and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He is an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), a member emeritus of the Transportation Research Board Committee on Airfield and Airspace Capacity and Delay, and former chair of the Transportation Research Board's aviation group.

MITRE (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit company that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government.
