MITRE Welcomes Raymar Dizon as Technology Transfer Director FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher McLean, Virginia, July 8, 2008 — The MITRE Corporation is pleased to announce that Mr. Raymar Dizon has joined the company as director of its Technology Transfer Office (TTO). As part of MITRE's mission to serve in the public interest, the TTO actively makes many MITRE-developed technologies available for transfer, thereby insuring that the technology is affordable, supportable, and available to its government sponsors, academia, and industry. Mr. Dizon, who took his post on June 30, previously served as managing director of the Maryland Venture Fund, an arm of the State of Maryland that invests in emerging technology and biotechnology companies with primary offices in the state. During his eight-year tenure at the Fund (the past two years as managing director), he was lauded for his work with startups that attracted more than $1 billion in total funding. His prior experience includes ten years with the ITT Research Institute in Annapolis, Md., where he supported Army and Air Force contracts analyzing satellite and ground communications for the Department of Defense. "Raymar's ability to cultivate relationships with government agencies, universities, and commercial firms—combined with his technical expertise—made him a natural fit to lead the TTO," said Dr. Stephen Huffman, vice president and chief technology officer at MITRE. "He has a keen understanding of the technology transfer continuum." Since 2004, Mr. Dizon has been a part-time instructor in George Washington University's (GWU) computer science department. He is a member of the Maryland Industrial Partnerships and Early Stage East Venture selection committees. He holds a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from GWU and a master of business administration degree from Loyola College of Maryland. The MITRE Corporation (www.mitre.org) is a not-for-profit national resource that provides systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the government. It operates federally funded research and development centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Veterans Affairs, with principal locations in Bedford, Mass., and McLean, Va.
