McLean, Virginia, December 10, 2008 — Mr. Sol Glasner, MITRE's vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary, recently received the Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association's (WMACCA) Corporate Counsel Career Achievement Award. WMACCA, the largest regional bar association for in-house counsel, has given the award only twice before in its 27-year history.

Glasner was recognized for the instrumental role he has played in MITRE's development during his 16 years as chief legal officer and for his service to the in-house bar. He received the award at WMACCA's annual Corporate Counsel Awards reception, held October 29 in McLean, Va.

"Sol provides MITRE's leadership with strategic, thoughtful guidance on an incredible range of issues," said MITRE president and chief executive officer Al Grasso. "Our organization is better for his wise counsel, and I congratulate him on this most deserved honor."

Glasner oversees a varied in-house practice emphasizing intellectual property, technology transfer, government procurement, computer law, and employment law. He also serves as MITRE's chief ethics and compliance officer. Appointed corporate secretary in 1996, Glasner is the primary liaison to the Board of Trustees.

Active in industry and professional groups for many years, Glasner served on the boards of WMACCA, the D.C. Computer Law Forum, and was a member of the Board of Governors of the Virginia Bar Corporate Counsel Section. He has written and lectured widely on export control and technology law issues.

Prior to joining MITRE, he was house counsel to Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC). As assistant general counsel, he was responsible for the legal affairs of CSC's Consulting Group, headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.

He is a volunteer mediator in the Washington, D.C., courts and served from 2006 to 2007 as the president of New Hope Housing, a Northern Virginia homeless shelter. Glasner holds a juris doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center and a master's degree in international affairs from Columbia University. He is admitted to the bars of D.C. and Virginia.
