Mr. Cleve L. Killingsworth Elected to MITRE Board of Trustees FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher McLean, Virginia, July 8, 2008 — MITRE chairman of the board Dr. James Schlesinger and president and chief executive officer Mr. Alfred Grasso are pleased to announce the recent appointment of Mr. Cleve L. Killingsworth to the MITRE Board of Trustees. "Mr. Killingsworth brings to the Board more than three decades of experience in the health care field," said Mr. Grasso. "His in-depth understanding of the complexities of health care management will be invaluable to MITRE's federal sector modernization efforts in these areas." Mr. Killingsworth is chairman and chief executive officer of the three-million-member Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts—one of the country's largest independent, not-for-profit Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. He was previously president and chief executive officer of the Health Alliance Plan in Detroit and served as president of Kaiser Permanente's Central East Division. A nationally recognized leader in health care management, Mr. Killingsworth is also an advocate for health care system reform, particularly concerning more efficient management practices, the use of information technology in health care, and improving the quality and safety of medical care. He is a faculty member of the Harvard School of Public Health and serves on the Harvard Medical School Board of Fellows. He is also a founding member of the Executive Leadership Council—an independent, non partisan, non-profit corporation in Washington, D.C., that provides African-American executives with a leadership advisory forum on business, economic, and public policy issues. Mr. Killingsworth holds a bachelor of science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a master of public health degree from Yale University.
