AIAA Elects MITRE Associate Fellows FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher BEDFORD, Mass., December 3, 2009 — The MITRE Corporation is pleased to announce that John C. Gonda III and David R. Maroney, MITRE lead multi-discipline systems engineers, have been elected as 2010 Associate Fellows of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the world's largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. The AIAA's grade of associate fellow is awarded to individuals with AIAA senior membership and at least 12 years of professional experience in their field, along with a history of leadership activities within the organization. It also recognizes "individuals who have accomplished important engineering or scientific work, or have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences, or technology of aeronautics or astronautics." "This significant career achievement reflects the tremendous energy and enthusiasm that both John and Dave have put into their work with the AIAA," said Agam Sinha, MITRE senior vice president and general manager of the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development, the federally funded research and development center that MITRE operates for the Federal Aviation Administration.
