BEDFORD, Mass., and MCLEAN, Va., June 25, 2010 — IDG's Computerworld has selected The MITRE Corporation as one of the country's outstanding workplaces for IT professionals. This is the company's sixth straight year on the magazine's list of "100 Best Places to Work in IT." MITRE ranked number 26 overall and number 8 in the category of medium-size companies.

Since 1994, Computerworld's annual "Best Places to Work in IT" feature has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals, based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention. In addition, the magazine conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, whose responses factor heavily in determining the rankings. More than 38,000 IT professionals responded to the employee survey from the final 100 companies selected. Other companies named to the 2010 list include American Express Co., General Mills Inc., Kellogg Co., and Verizon Wireless.

"It's an honor to be included on such an impressive list of companies," said MITRE Vice President and Chief Information Officer Joel Jacobs. "We're providing the technology infrastructure and information management tools that enable employees working directly with government customers to deliver the value expected of us. Receiving feedback about where we excel and where we can improve from those who deliver these key services helps keep MITRE—and ultimately our sponsors—on the cutting edge."

According to Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld, "The organizations that made this year's Best Places to Work list sustain a dynamic work environment in which IT professionals keep their hands on the latest technologies and work on projects that are business critical."

Now in its 17th year, the Best Places list is featured in the June 21 edition of Computerworld and online at http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9176791/Best_Places_to_Work_in_IT_2010.
