MITRE President and CEO Elected AFCEA Vice Chair FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher MCLEAN, Va., May 13, 2010 — The MITRE Corporation is pleased to announce that President and CEO Alfred Grasso has been elected as vice chair of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA International). Established in 1946, AFCEA International is a non-profit membership association serving the military, government, industry, and academia as an ethical forum for advancing professional knowledge and relationships in the fields of communications, IT, intelligence, and global security. "I am honored to be elected to help lead this important organization," Grasso said. "AFCEA's dedication to supporting global security is well-aligned with MITRE's mission and our work." A longtime member of AFCEA, Grasso has served for more than five years on the Association's Executive Committee and Board, as well as its Audit Committee. He is currently the co-chair of the Governance Committee. As vice chair of AFCEA International, he will report to the chair of the board and will chair the Budget and Finance Committee. Grasso joined MITRE in 1986 and was appointed president and CEO in 2006. He was previously director of the Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence Federally Funded Research and Development Center that the company operates on behalf of the Department of Defense. His earlier roles at MITRE included senior vice president and general manager of the Washington Command, Control, and Communications Center; chief information officer; and technical director for the Battlefield Systems Division at the corporation's Fort Monmouth, N.J., site.
