MITRE Announces Key Leadership Changes FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MITRE Contacts: Jennifer J. Shearman Karina H. Wright MCLEAN, Va., June 30, 2010 — The MITRE Corporation is pleased to announce several appointments and changes in key leadership roles. Senior Vice President David Lehman has been appointed chief operations officer. Senior Vice President Bob Behler will assume Lehman's current role as general manager of the Command and Control Center (C2C), one of two operating centers within the C3I FFRDC, the federally funded research and development center sponsored by the Department of Defense (DoD) to address critical issues for both the DoD and Intelligence Community. Peter Sherlock will join Behler in C2C as vice president. "These changes will enhance MITRE's ability to successfully execute its mission and to provide our clients with the excellent value and contributions they have come to expect from us," said Alfred Grasso, president and chief executive officer. As chief operations officer, Lehman will work with Grasso to provide oversight for the company's strategic management processes, focusing on enhancing decision making, championing cross-company initiatives, and ensuring the vitality of the MITRE mission. Lehman's experience as MITRE's chief technology officer and chief information officer combined with his 20 years contributing to the company's technical work program have provided him with a breadth of experience that make him especially qualified for this position. As general manager for C2C, Behler will continue to shape and execute a strong technical work program for MITRE's national security customers, working with Bob Nesbit, senior vice president and general manager of the C3I FFRDC's Center for Integrated Intelligence Systems, and Ray Haller, senior vice president and director of the C3I FFRDC. Behler also will champion C2C efforts to collaborate with the other federally funded research and development centers that MITRE operates for the government on topics such as deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles in the national airspace system. As vice president, Sherlock will partner with Behler to lead and direct C2C's technical work program. Sherlock brings a strong strategic perspective and a broad view of both MITRE's work and customer relationships to this new role. He was formerly executive director for integration within the C3I FFRDC, where he worked to engage MITRE staff and customers in developing solutions to enterprise-wide challenges.
