MCLEAN, Va., August 12, 2010 — Dr. Agam Sinha has been named Chairman of the Board of RTCA Inc. Dr. Sinha is director, senior vice president, and general manager of the Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD), the federally funded research and development center that MITRE operates for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

RTCA is a private, not-for-profit corporation that develops consensus-based recommendations regarding communications, navigation, surveillance, and air traffic management system issues. "As an organization that works in the public interest, MITRE is proud to have Agam support RTCA's efforts to advance the art and science of aviation and aviation electronic systems for the benefit of the public," said Mr. Alfred Grasso, MITRE's president and chief executive officer.

Dr. Sinha, who joined MITRE in 1972, has played a key role in many facets of CAASD's aviation research program, including international air traffic control systems design, airport capacity and delays, system safety activities, and development support for the FAA safety information and analysis system. He has written or co-written more than 80 publications and is a frequent presenter to a wide range of aviation organizations around the world.
