BEDFORD, Mass., and MCLEAN, Va., June 30, 2011 — IDG's Computerworld has selected The MITRE Corporation as one of the country's "100 Best Places to Work in IT" for the seventh year in a row. The company ranked 54 overall and 14 in the category of medium-size companies on the 2011 list of the top work environments for technology professionals. MITRE was also named the number three company overall for training.

The magazine's annual list is determined based on a comprehensive questionnaire about company benefits, diversity, career development, training, and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings. This year, more than 29,000 IT professionals employed by the final 100 companies selected participated in the survey. Other companies named to the 2011 list include General Mills Inc. and USAA.

"This recognition is a great honor," said MITRE Vice President and Chief Information Officer Joel Jacobs. "It shows us that we've created an environment in which those who deliver critical information management and knowledge services to all employees have access to the tools and support needed to make that possible. The two go hand in hand and benefit both our internal and external customers."

According to Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld, "To be among the Best Places to Work in IT, it's not enough to seek out and hire the most talented IT professionals, offer them competitive pay and provide great benefits. The organizations that made this year's Best Places to Work list are creating a work environment that both trains and encourages IT personnel to pursue business-driven priorities."

Now in its 18th year, the Best Places list is featured in the June 2011 edition of Computerworld and online.
