| ElSawy Promoted to MITRE Vice President and Officer MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher February 24, 1998 — The MITRE Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer Victor A. DeMarines announced that the MITRE Board of Trustees has promoted Amr ElSawy of Reston, VA, to Vice President and corporate officer. The action was taken at the Board meeting earlier this month. MITRE is an independent, not-for-profit systems engineering firm engaged in scientific and technical activities in the public interest. ElSawy will be based at the company's area headquarters in McLean, VA. ElSawy will manage the establishment and operation of a new MITRE controlled affiliate and will lead the development of its Aeronautical Information Services business. He provides oversight of the affiliate's interest in the joint venture with ARINC, Inc. by serving as a member of the SkySource Board of Directors. In his new capacity, ElSawy will also be responsible for guidance of the information technology investment strategy for The Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) and leadership of the international aviation work program in Egypt. In addition to holding bachelor and masters degrees in electrical engineering from West Virginia University (1977) and George Washington University (1980) respectively, ElSawy is scheduled to receive his MBA from Georgetown University in April 1998.
