| Grasso Promoted to MITRE Chief Information Officer MITRE Contacts: Karina H. Wright Eryn L. Gallagher July 20, 1999 — The MITRE Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer Victor A. DeMarines announced today the promotion of Alfred Grasso of Eatontown, NJ, to Vice President and Chief Information Officer. The MITRE Board of Trustees previously approved the action. MITRE (www.mitre.org) is an independent, not-for-profit systems engineering firm engaged in scientific and technical work in the public interest. Grasso will be based at the company's offices in Reston, VA. Grasso will manage the corporation's vast information inventory. He will also be responsible for the information technology of the company, including research, technology transition, and the use of information technologies throughout MITRE's customer programs. Prior to this position, Grasso served as Technical Director of MITRE's Battlefield Systems Division and leader of the corporation's Fort Monmouth, NJ, site, where he directed a broad range of programs, including MITRE's support to the Army's "Force XXI" battlefield digitization campaign. He served as a technical advisor to Army leadership, and participated as a member of a special task force for battlefield digitization. He has been with MITRE since 1986, serving formerly at ARINC Research Corporation, and Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Grasso holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is also a graduate of the Program for Management Development at the Harvard Business School.
