To achieve corporate objectives of productivity enhancement and tight teaming with customers and industry, MITRE's Model Workplaces Team is piloting collaboration technology and physical space organization. For example, the Team has performed standards, market, and network-impact analysis of collaborative tools including Collaborative Virtual Workspace, Timbuktu, NetMeeting, and desktop videoteleconference applications. The team is evaluating tools for wireless connectivity such as WaveLan and Ricochet, as well as applications for dynamic DNS to support use of DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol). The team has implemented several workspace innovations including rolling-out distributed online briefing and demo facilities, visitor (nomadic) offices, and the creation of virtual team rooms and a Model Workplace pilot in Reston, Virginia.
