MITRE's Corporate Initiative in Smart Power

The MITRE Corporation has launched a Corporate Initiative in Smart Power. Our vision is the coordination and amplification of all instruments of national power through innovative strategies, methodologies, tools and relationships. Our primary objectives include:

• Provide government leadership (including but not limited to public diplomacy, public affairs, strategic communication, intelligence) with methods and tools for global, persistent, multilingual social radar and engagement
• Enable ambassadors, commanders, and development agencies to plan/coordinate all of government actions across the Diplomatic, Information, Military, and Economic (DIME) spectrum
• Enable the acquisition community to design effective, affordable, resilient smart power systems

The MITRE Difference

Smart Power (SP) is an enterprise-scale challenge that involves multiple services, agencies, and partners, where integration is a major need and challenge. Asymmetric warfare involves individuals and small groups for whom Smart Power may be the only practical preemptive deterrent available. Consistent with our FFRDC role and attributes, MITRE acts as a trusted provider of systems engineering services to help national security customers implement end to end solutions for Smart Power intelligence, operations, and effects assessment. Smart Power solutions draw upon the full spectrum capabilities MITRE offers, e.g. rich socio-cultural-behavioral data, analysis of social networks, group motivations, foreign language processing, sentiment analysis, and interagency integration and collaboration.
