Successful Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) Overview Welcome to Successful IPTs, where you can:
This site is part of MITRE's efforts to continue to build on our research and create a focal point and community of practice for the mutual exploration of yours and other work across the federal government in setting up, managing, and evaluating IPTs.
Coming Soon: "Successful IPTs Community" Stay tuned for our new Community where you can:
For more information, please contact Rob Creekmore, Craig Petrun, or Marie Muscella using the employee directory. "Keys to Successful IPTs" TEM MITRE recently hosted a Technical Exchange Meeting (TEM) entitled "Keys to Successful IPTs" on Wednesday, June 3, at MITRE's McLean headquarters. The TEM brought together many of the participants in MITRE's IPT research as well as IPT experts and others who wish to explore their experience with IPTs, both in the DoD and with civilian government agencies. The TEM also began to build a community of practice, online repository, and social networking to further research and apply IPT lessons learned, best practices, models, and tools. For more information about the TEM, please contact Rob Creekmore using the employee directory. IPT Start-up Guide This guide suggests how to set up, manage, and evaluate Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) in government. It describes the most important decisions and key steps in IPT formation based on MITRE's research into best practices in industry and government as well as organizational behavior research on work team performance. Key Success Indicator (KSI) Tool One of the core findings of MITRE's IPT research—described in Appendix A of the IPT Startup Guide—is the identification of Key Success Indicators that can be used to evaluate how well an IPT is performing at periodic intervals over its lifecycle. The Key Success Indicator (KSI) Tool is constructed based on one of the following two 5 minute surveys. The first survey is completed by the IPT members during the IPT startup phase and the second survey is completed at periodic intervals thereafter. The results of the surveys are compiled as an IPT Risk Profile, as illustrated at the top of this web page. The Profile shows the level of risk in five KSI categories:
Read the IPT Startup Guide or contact Rob Creekmore using the employee directory if you would like information on how to use the IPT KSI Model. The surveys can be downloaded here:
