Artificial Intelligence

Our artificial intelligence experts investigate systems that exhibit intelligent behavior to accomplish tasks that involve capabilities such as perception, learning, navigation, planning, and cooperation.

Overview

Our artificial intelligence experts investigate systems that exhibit intelligent behavior to accomplish tasks that involve capabilities such as perception, learning, navigation, planning, and cooperation. These systems may work autonomously or in cooperation with users. Tasks include discovery and integration of information and knowledge from data, including multimedia data. Other tasks include modeling of autonomous adaptive agents, including robots, and reasoning across distributed and diverse information sources. Research topics include knowledge representation, inference and reasoning (including reasoning under uncertainty), agent architectures, and mechanisms and standards for semantic interoperability for purposes of knowledge management.
