Execution of Flow Strategies aka "Go Button"

ABSTRACT

An operational concept that involves integrating multiple Air Traffic Management capabilities has been developed to enhance the way that Traffic Management initiatives are coordinated and implemented, particularly in the area of rerouting flights around congested areas or severe weather. By integrating these capabilities, all parties involved with the flight, including traffic management specialists, air traffic controllers, and airspace users, can efficiently and consistently identify affected flights and the desired reroutes. The concept relies on the integration of planned or existing automation systems to facilitate the way that reroutes are coordinated and implemented. The concept calls for no additional workload on the part of traffic management specialist, air traffic controller, or airspace user. In fact, the concept facilitates the tasks currently done today by providing more automated communication and access to common information. This concept has already been used to develop requirements for the near-term integration of two cornerstone capabilities: the User Request Evaluation Tool for traffic controllers and the Collaborative Routing Coordination Tools capabilities for traffic management specialists.
