Multi-User Detection Technique (MUD)

Technology Area

Multi-Carrier and Multi-Antenna Communications

Project Status

Research completed, ongoing government funded work

Inventors

Jim Dunyak, Jerry Shapiro

IP Status

Patent pending

Overview

The need to move more data in less time via wireless links has resulted in an increasingly crowded radio-frequency spectrum. This MITRE developed prototype processes multiple, simultaneous signals. The Multi-user Detection technology consists of algorithms used to reduce the signal to noise ratio at low power in CDMA systems.

The technology has been prototyped in software and modeled and tested in a lab environment.

Benefits

  • Increased data rates
  • Greater cell capacity
  • Practical algorithms that can be implemented easily
