MITRE Team Wins Marine Corps Award

March 2016

A MITRE team received the prestigious Marine Corps Director of Intelligence Innovation Award on September 18, 2015. The award is for the project Full Motion Video Optical Navigation Targeting (FMV ON-Target).

The software operates on a standard laptop that receives video and telemetry feeds from an unmanned aircraft vehicle. It reduces engagement time and eliminates the requirement of pre-registered reference imagery. Combined with digital terrain data, FMV ON-Target can support mission planning, electronic warfare geo-location analysis, and other intelligence needs.

Gen. John M. Paxton, Jr., assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, and BGen. Michael Groen, Marine Corps director of intelligence, presented the awards to the FMV-ONE team, which consisted of Program Management Marine Intelligence and MITRE representatives. The award presentation cited the team for its collaborative approach to the project and for successfully working with USMC and intelligence community partners to develop, test, and transition the software capability into the field.
