Synthetic Data: A Technology for Unleashing the Power of Analytics to Inform Critical Policy Decisions

Tuesday, July 29, 2014 - 12:30pm to 7:30pm
MITRE Rappahannock Building, 1550 Westbranch Drive, McLean, VA

The government is under increasing pressure to “do more with less.” Yet agencies’ ability to do the analysis required to make more effective and efficient management decisions is hampered by restrictions that limit access to the data needed to drive the analysis.

MITRE is hosting a technical exchange meeting (TEM) to discuss the challenges in the generation and use of synthetic data, a technology that has the potential for resolving some of those data access restrictions. This TEM will bring together leading researchers from academia, non-government, and government stakeholders to discuss the utility of synthetic data, the state of the art, and future research opportunities.

The TEM topics will include an overview of synthetic data technology and its use, plus technical approaches for creating high-quality synthetic analytic datasets.  The TEM will take place on Tuesday, July 29th, with breakfast provided between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m., and a reception at the end of the TEM, between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m.
