AFCEA Honors Eliahu Niewood with Distinguished Award for Excellence in Engineering
Eliahu Niewood, MITRE Corporation's director of special capabilities, has been honored by the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) with its Distinguished Award for Excellence in Engineering. The award was presented during the AFCEA International Awards Dinner on June 12 in Baltimore. The award, which is AFCEA's "highest award for sustained excellence in engineering," recognizes Niewood's work as a technical advisor to the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office. "We congratulate Eliahu for this prestigious honor for his work in driving innovation to address critical military mission needs and operational concepts," said Greg Crawford, vice president for MITRE's joint and services portfolio. "This recognition of the excellent work that he did for the Department of Defense is a testament to the engineering talent available to our sponsors for solving their most difficult challenges." MITRE's Rich Byrne, senior vice president for programs and technology, is also a previous winner of the Distinguished Award for Excellence in Engineering.
