Positioning, Navigation and Timing in Challenging Environments

December 13, 2013

The Palmetto, SC chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) recently welcomed Sarah MacConduibh, vice president of the Air Force Portfolio, MITRE Corporation's National Security Engineering Center, to speak on "Sustaining Capabilities in Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) in increasingly Challenging Environments." During military operations, such as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, global strike and precision geolocation, military assets need exact geographical location. Accurate knowledge of time is critical to synchronous operations, communications and command and control. Her presentation explored options available to PNT users for robustness, redundancy, and threat removal, and it highlighted important technology trends for military and civil programs.
