Visits by Military Brass Bring Focus on Local Research

November 14, 2013

General Mark A. Welsh III, chief of staff for the US Air Force, spent two days last week at Hanscom in Bedford, delving into the latest research on cutting-edge weapons systems and the base's tight relationship with the research and technology sector along the Route 128/Interstate 95 and Interstate 495 corridors. The close ties between Hanscom and the local high-tech sector are on display at The MITRE Corporation's 100-acre campus adjacent to Hanscom.

The tour of Hanscom by the Air Force general was the work of US Representative Niki Tsongas. "It is an ecosystem you cannot replicate anywhere else in the country," said Tsongas.
