Ms. Jean C. Milbrandt

Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Jean Milbrandt is the chief financial officer (CFO) and vice president (VP) of the Center for Finance & Administration (CF&A) at The MITRE Corporation. In this role, she is responsible for ensuring MITRE's financial strength and maintaining its leadership as a preeminent manager of federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs).

Milbrandt joined MITRE in 2017 as the director of strategy and integration in the CF&A. She was later named the director of business operations, overseeing the corporate real estate, corporate contracts and subcontracts, and international program management office.

She previously served as the controller and division manager of finance and contracts for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), the FFRDC that California Institute of Technology operates for NASA. She also served as the CFO for special programs encompassing JPL's sensitive, non-NASA work. Before joining JPL, Milbrandt held multiple roles in business information technology, accounting and financial management at Raytheon Systems Company, formerly Hughes Aircraft Company.

In 2017, Milbrandt received the coveted NASA Outstanding Public Leadership Medal. JPL had also honored her twice, in 2006 and 2014, with the Magellan Award, JPL's highest form of leadership recognition.

At California Institute of Technology, she sat on the Employee Benefits Committee, the JPL Voluntary Employees Beneficiary Association Oversight Committee, the Athenaeum Finance & Membership Committees, and she served on the search committee for Caltech’s CFO/VP of business and finance. She is an active member of the FFRDC/UARC/Non-Profit CFO Consortium and was formerly on the board of directors, an executive committee member, and the board treasurer of the Mothers’ Club Family Learning Center in Pasadena, Calif.

Milbrandt holds a bachelor's degree in computer information systems from California State Polytechnic University, a master of business administration from the University of Southern California, a certificate in government contracts management from the University of California, Los Angeles, and certificates in Leading for Organizational Impact and Leading Strategically from the Center for Creative Leadership.
