Deputy to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Futures Command

Joseph Welch is U.S. Army Futures Command’s senior representative in the Pentagon, where he serves as acting deputy to the commanding general. A member of Senior Executive Service, Welch brings extensive science, technology, engineering, and acquisition expertise to the Command engaging directly with Headquarters Department of the Army on transformation efforts. As the C5ISR Center Director, Welch leads a workforce of over 3,000 scientists, engineers, and business support professionals in discovering and developing technologies to enable information superiority and tactical over-match for our Joint Forces. Prior to his role as director, DEVCOM C5ISR Center, Welch served as the Deputy Program Executive Officer, Command, Control and Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T), Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Welch’s responsibilities included the development, acquisition, fielding and support of the Army’s tactical network, a critical Army priority that provides information dominance to current and future Soldiers in challenging environments worldwide.
