MITRE Names General Lester Lyles (Ret.) to Visiting Fellows Program
McLean, Va., and Bedford, Mass., Jan. 25, 2023—MITRE named General Lester L. Lyles (Ret.), chairman of the NASA Advisory Council and former commander, Air Force Materiel Command at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, as a visiting fellow. He brings decades of experience leading organizations in aeronautical and astronautical research, development, acquisition, and logistics.

Lyles will be an invaluable part of some of our most important work, including defense and space,” said Charles Clancy, senior vice president, general manager of MITRE Labs, and chief futurist. “His remarkable career and expertise in national security engineering and science will make a crucial impact.”
MITRE’s Visiting Fellows program engages external leaders in strategic focus areas, including national defense, cybersecurity, and health. Visiting fellows contribute to research and innovation programs, and many advise MITRE on healthcare, supply chain, cybersecurity, and more.
In addition to Lyles, MITRE visiting fellows include: Lt. Gen. Steven Boutelle (Ret.), senior visiting fellow and former CIO, U.S. Army; Michael Chernew, senior visiting fellow and director, Healthcare Markets and Regulation Laboratory, Harvard Medical School; Richard H. Ledgett Jr., senior visiting fellow and former deputy director, National Security Agency; Dr. Mark McClellan, senior visiting fellow and director, Duke Margolis Center for Health Policy; Dawn Meyerriecks, senior visiting fellow and former deputy director of the CIA for science and technology; Daniela Rus, senior visiting fellow and director, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, MIT; Nadia Schadlow, senior visiting fellow and former deputy national security advisor for strategy, assistant to the president; Robert Work, senior visiting fellow and former deputy secretary of defense.
