MITRE Names Jonathan Moneymaker to Board of Trustees

McLean, Va., & Bedford, Mass., Sept. 23, 2026 – MITRE’s Board of Trustees has elected Jonathan Moneymaker, a national security and space technology expert, as a new trustee.

“Jonathan brings a tremendous record of delivering and scaling critical technologies to support national security,” said Mark Peters, MITRE president and CEO. “His expertise will strengthen MITRE’s ability to help government translate promising technologies for complex systems and missions."

“It is an honor to join the Board of Trustees and support ushering MITRE into its next generation of partnership with the U.S. government and the national security and defense industry bases,” said Moneymaker.

Most recently, Moneymaker was CEO of BlueHalo, the disruptive defense tech and national security solutions provider he built from concept to ~$1 billion in revenue, enabling its acquisition by AeroVironment in 2025 for $4.1 billion.

Moneymaker’s 25+ year career in defense and national security began in service to the U.S. government and has since spanned leadership roles across transformative organizations, from startups and private equity-backed businesses to Fortune 50 companies.

Moneymaker serves on several boards, including as a senior adviser to Blackstone; chairman of the U.S. board of Kongsberg, a defense systems and solutions provider headquartered in Norway; chairman of the board of LeoLabs, a leading provider of space domain awareness and missile defense; board member for Kraken Technology Group in the U.K., a disruptive maritime technology company; and board member for Attalon, the provider of precision optics, laser systems, and exquisite coatings. Moneymaker also serves on the advisory boards of the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering and U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.
