MITRE Names Samantha Ravich, Ph.D., to Board of Trustees

McLean, Va., & Bedford, Mass., May 19, 2026 – MITRE’s Board of Trustees has elected Samantha Ravich, Ph.D., a national security and technology expert who has lent her expertise through numerous U.S. government and private sector roles, as a new Trustee.

“Samantha’s expertise combining national security, cybersecurity, and the private sector will bring a tremendous and accomplished perspective to our Board of Trustees,” said Mark Peters, MITRE president and CEO. “A successful entrepreneur and public servant, Samantha will be an invaluable addition at a time of rapid technological change and evolving global threats. Her experience will help MITRE strengthen its role as a trusted, objective partner to government, bringing cross-sector insight and technical depth to help our sponsors anticipate emerging challenges and deliver solutions with lasting national impact.”

Ravich began her government career working for Vice President Dick Cheney, rising to become his principal deputy national security advisor. She co-chaired the bipartisan National Commission for the Review of R&D Programs for the U.S. Intelligence Community.

She was appointed vice chair of the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, an independent element within the Executive Office of the President in 2018 and served as co-chair of the Department of Energy Artificial Intelligence Working Group from 2019 to 2021. Ravich also held a seat on the bipartisan Cyberspace Solarium Commission, established in 2019 to develop a national strategy to defend against cyberattacks. She is vice chair of the Strategic Advisory Committee for National and Homeland Security at Idaho National Laboratory.

Previously, Ravich chaired the Center for Cyber and Technology Innovation, which drives society-wide improvement in cyber resilience through the combination of technology, policy, and governance. She was also managing partner of A2P, a digital polling, marketing, and technology firm delivering data analytics and analysis. As a member of the Board of Directors for Brightstar Lottery PLC, Ravich provides expertise in technology, including cybersecurity and geopolitical strategy.

Ravich holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. from the RAND Graduate School in Santa Monica, Calif.
